John Woo's "Red Cliff" is being shown in Downtown L.A.'s Laemmle Grande Movie Theatre from 9/23/09-9/29/09, but only at 12:00pm for some strange reason.

I hope that the uncut versions of "Red Cliff Parts 1 and 2" will be shown in an L.A. area theatre, or in San Francisco.  It'd be great if the AFI Fest '09 could show Pts. 1 and 2, and maybe also Jacky Wu Jing's "Legendary Assassin" and some other Wu Jing HK movies.

Hopefully, when it opens a little wider in November, it'll be playing at all hours. Strange, though.

epic fantasy independent asian film

I'm writing to tell you about my new film project, "Legend of Black Lotus"

LEGEND OF BLACK LOTUS is an epic fantasy martial arts short film in the vein of "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon" meets "Gladiator." For an independent film it is an ambitious endeavor, with a projected feature film budget of $10 Million, and the short film will be used to solicit investors.

LEGEND OF BLACK LOTUS boasts an all ethnic cast, primarily Asian (Chinese, Japanese and Korean) and pays homage to epic films like Dances With Wolves and Braveheart, while honoring traditional Asian cinema.

The producers have established a crowdfunding site at http://www.indiegogo.com/BlackLotus to raise production funds for the short film and to distribute further information.
